The editor of the NBNERR Tide Calendar for Narragansett Bay, RI invites photographers of at least 13 years of age to enter an image in the Narragansett Bay Research Reserve's 2010 Tide Calendar "Cover Shot" Digital Photo Contest.

Submitted photos should show striking images of Narragansett Bay with a focus on its beauty and biodiversity.  Images may include landscapes, portraits of wildlife above or below the water, plant life, or people interacting with the Bay.  

Submissions are due by July 31, 2009.  The photos will be judged by a panel of  photographers. The winner will be announced by August 24, 2009 and the Top 5 images will be displayed on our website: www.nbnerr.org 

The winning photograph will be on the cover of the 2010 Narragansett Bay Tide Calendar to be distributed all over the State of Rhode Island .

To enter your photo in the contest:

1) Click on this link: www.nbnerr.org/enter.htm and it will steer you to the contest website.

2) Once you are on the contest website you may read the directions posted there, or click on the button at the top of the page that says "Upload."

3) Be sure to enter your name and a working email address in the upload pop-up window. The email address you enter will be used to contact you in the event that your image is selected as a finalist.

4) Follow the rest of the directions to upload a photograph.

THE RULES:

1) Only three entries per photographer will be accepted.

2) We are only accepting digital photographs that are landscape oriented and that measure at least 3300 x 2550 pixels or 8.5" x 11" at 300 dpi. Images that do not meet these specifications cannot be considered for the cover of the calendar.

3) Photos may not be altered beyond standard adjustments such as color, contrast, sharpness, etc.

4) Photos will be judged by a panel of three photographers on impact, composition, and originality. All decisions made by the judges are final.

YOUR RIGHTS: You retain ownership and all other rights to future use of the photographs you enter. However, if your entry wins or is a finalist, the Narragansett Bay Research Reserve may publish and use your photo to promote our organization and the 2010 RI Tide Calendar. Your email will also be added to our electronic mailing list, but you can opt out of this service upon receipt of your first automated communication from the Research Reserve.
